I tried a meal delivery service: Here’s what happened…and what got broke…

Truth time for minute. I love to cook, but I don’t always love cooking every meal every day. So when Green Chef said they would send me a box of organic fresh ready to cook food, well heck yeah I jumped at the chance.

I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com), May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms Meet blogger, I agree to use this product and post my honest opinion on my blog. The opinions posted are my own. greenchief_01At first I was a bit scared since the thought of food being delivered to me in anything other than a pizza box sort of freaks me out. What if I missed the delivery? What if it sat on my porch and wasn’t as awesome for it? What if it was fish!?!!

So I was happy to see every order comes with a tracking number so I could sit at my door with baited breath. The package was delivered on time and with an impressive amount of ice packs. Worry one knocked down. Also the box was lined with a compostable liner double bonus!! And it was fish!! And it looked good! Like really good.

So on to the recipes. My second worry, what if I couldn’t do it? What if it came on a night hubs was out late at work and the bears where, well, the bears? And of course it did. After 2 time outs and deciding we would skip tubbies for my own sanity, I unpacked the box of awesome and looked at what was in store. Two meals were in the box. Both where labeled clearly and color coded for total mommy brain moments. (I’ll talk about mine in a moment).

So all I had to do was follow the directions. And since I knew what was in store I got the Bears involved. Pluses and minuses for that one to be honest….. Plus, knife skills at an early age! Minuses, jumping on a chair from excitement and breaking it. Hashtag “raising boys” right there my friend.

So everything came together very nicely. It was super easy to combine everything since it was already measured out.  I had at one point not really cooked the buckwheat but added the dressed into the pot instead of on top of it. But hey I’ll just say that was my own spin on the recipe hehe. But now the hardest part for any parent venturing out on a new food journey…. Would they eat it?

They did! It wasn’t the most amazing thing they had ever tried. That belongs to Grammies Mac and Cheese. But I got my kids to eat new, exciting, healthy foods! Over all I would do this again. I’m not a hundred percent sold on the monthly subscription, but I would encourage everyone to give Green Chef a try. In fact they even gave my a code to give to you.

2 free weeks of Green Chef (value up to $225).
Discount Offer: New customers get $50 off their first box.
