How to store your extra seeds

Oh how I love the spring. In case you’ve missed it, I’m totally doing a garden this year. Our first big one in a bit. So to say I’m excited is a bit of an understatement. I also might have jumped the gun and started my seeds early. Like I have a cucumber plant growing on you kitchen table.

Or is this the tomato? Either way there’s a small farm growing inside right now. And I’m happy about that. What I’m not thrilled about was the current storage situation for my seeds (avid gardeners avert your eyes)

Not pretty. I knew I had to fix it since the Bears crawl on the table to get toys. Or I find myself moving the seeds around to make room for a crazy craft project. But what would work and how would I get it done? Enter Pinterest and Target. Such time sucks until you really need them. Then they are a dynamic force of creative, money burning ingenuity. I found this pin and thought “YES!! They understand me!” then I saw a kitchen I really wanted……. And promptly forgot about seed storage. Fast forward to a Target run sans kids where I remembered everything and even made it past the toy section and I find the exact thing I never knew I always wanted! A clear photo box (affiliate link) with separate little boxes inside of it.

I’m so lucky. From there it was just a matter of organizing my seeds into smaller categories like “herbs” “root” “leaf” “squashes” and so forth until each little container was filled with my seeds. I made sure to tape the open seed packets before I put them all into the container together.

I sort of think it looks sexy, it that weird? Anyway. Needless to say I found a great little spot of this tightly closed box. Under a pile of unfolded laundry. But hey at least I know my socks won’t be growing basil…… Happy growing!!!
