So I love to make soap. Always have, since my first little do it yourself kit from Michaels. Not the best base by the way. I love making fun looking soap. My fav has been the coffee latte bar I made forever ago!
So during the holidays I like to pick up the old soap mold and concoct something fun for those around me. I rummaged through the collection of fun things I have gathered over the past few months and came up with this:
Charcoal/French Clay/Dead Sea Salt with Tea Tree Oil Soap
Start with your soap base. You can use melt and pour or you can craft your own base using directions from any number of sources.
I use about two pounds of base and divide it into two sections about 2/3 and 1/3
The larger portion is for the charcoal bottom. The smaller portion is for the Dead Sea Salt top.
Once your base is properly melted add 10 drops of Tea Tree Oil to the smaller portion and 15 Drops to the larger portion.
Take about a 1/2 cup of Dead Sea Salt and gently mix it into the smaller portion.
Take the charcoal and add it to the larger portion. Mix until you get the color you desire.
Now here’s where it gets fun! Design your soap how ever you choose! Layers, chunks, marble, whatever strikes your fancy!
So that’s it. Just let it set then pop it out and cut it up. Make some nice labels or package it up with pretty sting and watch as everyone wonders what the heck you just gave them.
Here’s a little background as to why I chose these ingredients:
Charcoal: Activated charcoal removes toxins, that means it can help reduce the instances of acne and other skin issues. Hello smooth skin! Goodbye blemishes! It has been shown to work wonders for removing makeup also.
French Green Clay: Listed among one of nature’s strongest antiseptics, it has a strong anti-inflammatory property, can help tighten skin, deep cleanses and draws impurities and toxins out of our systems due to its highly absorptive and adsorptive property.
Dead Sea Salt: One word – Magnesium. Magnesium is important for both combating stress and fluid retention, slowing skin aging and calming the nervous system.
Seriously I’m about to jump in the shower now!
